As a UX/UI Design Intern at Motorola Solutions, I played a crucial role in the creation of “Homebase,” a project designed to connect homeless individuals with vital resources. Leading the research phase, I gained insight into the distinct needs and obstacles faced by this population. I assisted in finalizing design assets for the app's alpha launch. By incorporating user feedback, refining designs iteratively, and paying meticulous attention to detail, I ensured that the user interface and prototype were not only functional, but also capable of providing a transformative experience for both users and stakeholders.
Housing insecurity is a pressing reality, leaving countless individuals without a place they can call home.
The Problem
In Edmonton, over 2,000 individuals find themselves confronted by the harsh and unforgiving trials of homelessness. Those who are homeless must endure not only the hardships of inadequate shelter but also the bitter cold that poses a serious threat to their health and well-being and makes it difficult to access the resources they need.
Create an accessible and streamlined way for homeless individuals to access information on necessary resources .
The Solution
Introducing Homebase - a web platform that allows service providers to share service information with housing insecure individuals. Services range from overnight shelters and food banks to mail and ID services. With Homebase, law enforcement is able to connect individuals with the right people and services as well.
